Sunglass Compartment
To check function of sunglass compartment door, push upward until door stops, then release. The door should swing open at a slow, uniform speed. Close door by swinging it upward until it stops, then release. The door should latch and remain closed.Failure of the sunglass compartment door system to open or close as described is the result of damage to, or misalignment of the latch system. Latch spring misalignment is corrected by repositioning spring. Damaged latch springs or cams must be replaced using procedures within this group.
Normally, the sunglass compartment will swing down at a slow, uniform speed after the latch is released. This action is the result of the viscous damping device. If this device fails, and the door falls open upon release, use the following procedures to service it.
