Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

The thermistor is mounted in the intake manifold. The sensor element extends into the manifold airstream to measure the temperature of the air passing through the intake manifold. As the temperature changes, the resistance of the sensor changes. The control module reads the resistance changes and uses this information to determine when the air intake heaters should be ENERGIZED, and for how long.
