Air Bag: Service and Repair

Before attempting to diagnose, remove or install any airbag system components, first disconnect and isolate battery ground cable, then wait at least 10 minutes prior to performing any service. Failure to do so may result in airbag deployment or personal injury.

STORAGE

The airbag module must be stored in its original special container until it is used. It must be stored in a clean, dry place, away from heat, sparks or electrical sources. Always place or store the module on a flat surface with the trim cover facing up.

HANDLING

At no time should any source of electricity be permitted near the inflator on the back of the airbag module. When handling a live module, the trim cover must be pointing away from the body to minimize injury in the event of accidental airbag deployment. Always place or store airbag module on clean flat surface with trim cover facing up.
