SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Vehicle may exhibit idle roughness when the transmission is in PARK or NEUTRAL. This condition will most likely occur when the engine is cold and the ambient temperature is between 60~ F and 90~ F.


DIAGNOSIS:

Using a DRB II tester and the appropriate diagnostic procedure manual, verify that all vehicle engine systems are functioning as designed (no fault codes are present). If all systems are functioning correctly proceed with the following repair.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves replacement of all six fuel injectors.


NOTE: REPLACEMENT OF ALL SIX INJECTORS IS AUTHORIZED FOR THIS BULLETIN ONLY. IN ALL OTHER CASES, INJECTORS SHOULD BE REPLACED INDIVIDUALLY.

Figure 1:

1. Remove the fuel injectors following the procedures outlined in Group 14 of the appropriate service manual.

2. Install the new injectors.

NOTE: THE PINTLE VALVE OF THESE INJECTORS IS POSITIONED SO THAT THE FUEL EXITS AT A SPECIFIC ANGLE. THESE INJECTORS MUST BE INSTALLED WITH THEIR ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS POINTING STRAIGHT UP, PERPENDICULAR TO THE FUEL RAIL (See Figure 1).

3. Type the required information on the Authorized Modification label (Figure 2) and attach it near the VECI label.
