Air Temperature Switch: Description and Operation

Air Temperature Switch:

The [1][2]air temperature switch is located in the intake manifold and is used to control the KSB (cold start) solenoid when the ambient temperature is less than 54 ~F (12 ~C). The switch closes when the ambient air temperature is less than 54 ~F (12 ~C). When the switch is closed, voltage is supplied to the KSB (cold start) solenoid. When the KSB solenoid is ENERGIZED, pressure is allowed to build up inside the injection pump housing. When the pressure in the housing increases, the injection timing is advanced.
