Idle Speed Motor Position Sensor: Description and Operation
ISC & Components:
The Motor Position Sensor is part of the Idle Speed Control Servo, which is mounted on the side of the throttle body housing. The Motor Position Sensor sends a signal to the Control Unit indicating the position of the ISC Servo plunger.
The Control Unit refers to this input signal while the vehicle is at idle.
When engine load is increased, the Control Unit will activate the plunger, via the motor and worm drive, which will open the throttle valve and increase the idle speed.
