Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Description and Operation

The air flow sensor, mounted in the air cleaner housing, measures the intake air volume or air flow rate. This information is sent to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) as the intake air volume signal. The ECU uses this signal along with the inputs of various other sensors to compute the optimum fuel injector pulse width or "ON" time.
