SUBJECT: Fuel Gauge Reads Low When the Fuel Tank is Full


MODELS:

1991 (AB) RAM VAN/WAGON
(AD) RAM PICKUP/RAM CAB & CHASSIS/RAMCHARGER (2WD, 4WD)
(AN) DAKOTA/DAKOTA SPORT/DAKOTA CONVERTIBLE


SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The fuel gauge does not read full after filling the fuel tank. This may be caused by calibration of the fuel sending unit. Vehicles exhibiting this condition should have the following repair procedure performed.


PARTS REQUIRED:

1 Fuel Gauge Sending Unit 52017992


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This procedure involves replacement of the fuel sending unit with a new sending unit. Using the appropriate service manual, perform the following procedure.

1. Remove the fuel pump module from the fuel tank.

2. Making note of the wiring locations, carefully remove the fuel gauge sending unit.

3. Install the new fuel gauge sending unit, PN 52017992, onto the fuel pump module.

4. Install the fuel pump module.

5. Inspect all hoses and lines for leaks and correct as required.
