Difficult To Remove And Replace Engine Oil Filter



NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 4WD VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 3.9/5.2L ENGINE.


MODELS:

1989-1992 (AN) Dakota/Dakota Sport/Dakota Cab & Chassis


SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some difficulty may be experienced in removal or replacement of the engine oil filter on 4WD vehicles. A revised engine/disconnect housing/transmission bracket is now available for easier access to the engine oil filter.


PARTS REQUIRED:

1 Bracket, Engine/Disconnect Housing/Transmission 52058086


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves replacement of the engine/disconnect housing/transmission bracket with a revised bracket.

1. Raise vehicle on hoist.

2. Remove the two bottom axle support bolts.

3. Remove the transmission mount bracket bolt.

4. Remove the top engine mount bolt.

5. Remove the 15 mm bolt to block and disconnect vacuum harness.





6. Remove the engine/disconnect housing/transmission bracket, see illustration.



7. Transfer the vacuum harness retaining clip to the revised bracket and install bracket, PN 52058086. Torque bolt to 88 N-m (65 ft.lbs.)

8. Install the top engine mount bolt, torque to 41 N-m (30 ft.lbs.).

9. Install the transmission mount bolt and axle support bolts, torque to 88 N-m (65 ft.lbs.).

10. Lower vehicle.
