Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Vehicle Distance Sensor:

This sensor is located in the extension housing of the transfer case (4 WD), or the extension housing of the transmission (2 WD). The engine controller uses this input signal and the Throttle Position Sensor's (TPS) signal to determine when to make the 3-4 shift or the 4-3 shift.

The vehicle distance (speed) sensor is also used to determine speed control DECELERATE, SET, ACCELERATE, minimum set speed (35 mph), and maximum set speed (85 mph).
