2 and 3 Digit Codes
Note: A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) indicates that the PCM has recognized an abnormal condition in the system. Trouble codes indicate the results of a failure, but may not identify the failed component directly.
- For Example: An oxygen sensor fault stored in the PCM, indicating a rich or lean condition, could be caused by a fuel pressure problem, unrelated to the O2 sensor.
Note: Trouble codes can be read using the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (instrument panel Check Engine lamp), or a scan tool. SEE How To Extract Trouble Codes.
Note: Information provided for those with no access to scan tool. In order to properly diagnose and repair vehicle, scan tool should be used.
