3.3.4 Initiator (Squib) Open

When Monitored

The ASDM monitors this circuit continuously while the igniton is on.

When Stored in Memory

This code is stored when the ASDM senses resistance above 10.0 OHMS on the initiator circuit. This includes the initiator, clockspring, wire and connector resistances.

Effect

The air bag warning lamp will remain on as long as this fault is present with a minimum on-time of 12 seconds.

Possible Causes

This code may be set by loose or corroded connection in the initiator circuit, broken or damaged wiring, a defectve clockspring or a defective air bag module.

Follow the required test sequence starting with Test 1A.
