A squeaking noise may be heard from the right rear of the vehicle when operating the vehicle at or near maximum Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the right rear parking brake cable in the area where it passes the sheet metal assembly tab at the right wheel house down standing flange. Look for evidence of contact (shiny or worn). If there is evidence of contact, perform the repair procedure (refer to illustration).
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves modifying the right wheel house down standing flange to provide additional clearance to the right parking brake cable.
1. Using an appropriate hammer, reposition the sheet metal assembly tab so that it becomes flush with the bottom edge of the right wheel house down standing flange.
2. Jounce the rear suspension to its full down position and verify adequate clearance has been created. If additional clearance is required, removal of the sheet metal assembly tab and/or cutting a notch in the right wheel house down standing flange will be necessary. Do not remove more than 5/8" of material from the flange. Apply Mopar Rust Inhibitor (P/N 82300068) if cutting is required.
