Help 1 - "No Response" Message on DRBII
Checking the following items, in order, will uncover the reason for the "No Response" message. Read the following conditions that are required to receive a response on the DRBII and perform the appropriate repairs for the conditions that are not met.1. The ignition key must be on.
2. The PK wire between engine controller cavity 25 and the diagnostic connector must not be shorted to ground. Also, the PK wire must have continuity between the engine controller and the diagnostic connector.
3. The LG wire between engine controller cavity 45 and the diagnostic connector must not be shorted to ground. Also, the LG wire must have continuity between the engine controller and the diagnostic connector.
4. The DRBII, DRBII cartridge, and the DRBII adapter cable must be functional. This may be determined by method of substitution (trying sequentially another vehicle, cable, cartridge, and DRBII).
5. If the above listed items are okay, replace the engine controller.
NOTE: Trucks must have the EMR mileage set and vehicles equipped with a factory theft alarm must be started twenty times to enable the theft alarm.
BLANK SCREEN ON DRBII
Checking the following items, in order, will uncover the reason for the blank DRBII display. Read the following conditions that are necessary for a functional DRBII display and perform the appropriate repairs for the conditions that are not met.
1. The BK/* wire between the diagnostic connector and the body ground must have continuity.
2. The DRBII, DRBII cartridge, and DRBII adapter cable must be functional. This may be determined by method of substitution (trying sequentially another vehicle, cable, cartridge, and DRBII).
OTHER ERROR MESSAGES
If any of the following error messages appear on the DRBII screen, refer to the Information Bus for diagnosis and repair.
BAD FRAMING
BAD OP CODE
COMMAND REJECTED
CARTRIDGE ERROR
HIGH BATTERY
KEYPAD TEST FAILURE
LOW BATTERY
RAM TEST FAILURE
