Thermostat: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain coolant below level of thermostat.
2. On models with air conditioning, remove alternator support bracket.
3. Remove drive belts refer to BELT.
4. Remove alternator mounting bolts, if equipped with 4WD disconnect indicator lamp wiring harness located by rear of alternator, then remove alternator.
5. On all models, remove upper radiator hose clamp, then radiator hose.
6. Remove thermostat housing mounting bolts, housing, then thermostat.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten thermostat housing attaching bolts to specifications.
