REMOVAL
Ignition Rotor Removal And Installation:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable, disconnect distributor wiring.
2. Release distributor cap retainers and remove distributor cap.
3. Scribe a mark on edge of distributor housing indicating position of rotor, and scribe a mark on intake for reference when installing distributor.
4. Remove distributor hold down bolt and clamp, and carefully remove distributor.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean top of cylinder block to insure a good seal between distributor base and block. If engine has not been cranked with distributor removed, proceed with step 2. If engine has been cranked with distributor removed proceed to step 3.
2. Position distributor in engine. Make sure O-ring is in place on distributor housing. Align rotor with mark scribed on housing. Engage tongue of distributor shaft with slot in distributor oil pump drive gear. Proceed to step 4.
3. If engine has been cranked with distributor removed perform following:
a. Rotate crankshaft until number one piston is at top of compression stroke. Mark on crankshaft vibration damper should be in line with "0" TDC mark on timing chain case cover.
b. Rotate the distributor rotor until it points at number one distributor terminal.
c. Lower distributor into engine, making sure O-ring is in place. Engage tongue of distributor shaft with slot in distributor oil pump drive gear.
4. Install distributor hold down clamp and screw and tighten finger tight. Install distributor cap and wires, making sure all high tension wires are firmly secured in cap towers.
5. Connect pick-up leads and negative battery cable.
