Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

The Throttle Position Sensor is mounted on the throttle body and connected to the throttle blade shaft.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery, and remove the air cleaner.

2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the Throttle Position Sensor.

3. Remove the TPS mounting screws, and lift the Throttle Position Sensor off the throttle shaft.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the TPS to the throttle body. Position towards the front of the vehicle.

2. Tighten the mounting screws to 2 Nm (20 lb-in).

3. Install the air cleaner, connect the negative battery terminal, and tighten.
