COMPONENT RESISTANCE RANGES

Canister Purge Solenoid 36 - 44 ohms

EGR Solenoid 36 - 44 ohms

Coolant Temperature Sensor

@ 70°F (21°C) 7,000-13,000 ohms
@ 194°F (90°C) 860-970 ohms

Charge Air Temperature Sensor

@ 70°F (21°C) 5,600-14,600 ohms
@ 200°F (93°C) 400-1,500 ohms

SENSOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE RANGES

Throttle Position Sensor

@ Minimum Throttle Opening (Idle) approximately 0.5 Volts (minimum 0.2 volts)
@ Wide Open Throttle (WOT) approximately 3.5 Volts (maximum 4.8 volts ) [1]

[1] Wide Open Throttle (WOT) output voltage should be about 3 volts higher than idle output voltage.

Oxygen Sensor

Sensor output voltage range is 0 to 1.0 volts.

Output voltages below 0.5 volts indicate a lean condition.

Output voltages over 0.5 volts indicate a rich condition.

Any reading of less than 0 volts or over 1.0 volts indicates a defective sensor.

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor

Sensor output voltage range is 0.5 to 4.5 volts.

Output voltages between 0.5 and 1.5 volts indicate a high vacuum situation, such as idle or deceleration.

Output voltages between 1.5 and 3.0 volts indicate a medium level of vacuum such as a cruise or slight acceleration condition.

Output voltages between 3.0 and 4.5 volts indicate a low vacuum situation such as hard acceleration or a mechanical failure.

Any reading of 0 volts or over 5 volts indicates a problem.

REGULATED REFERENCE VOLTAGES

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) 9.0 Volts
Distributor Pick-up 9.0 Volts
Coolant Temperature Sensor 5.0 Volts
Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor 5.0 Volts
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) 5.0 Volts
