Removal






1. Remove the cotter pin, nut lock, and spring washer from the stub shaft.






2. Loosen the lug nuts and hub nut while the vehicle is on the surface with the brakes applied.

3. Raise the vehicle. Remove the skid plate.






4. Remove the hub nut and washer from the stub shaft. Remove the wheel and tire from the hub.

5. Remove the bolts that attach the inner housing flange to the axle shaft flange.

6. Support the drive shaft at the CV joint housings. Separate the stub shaft from the hub hearing.

Do not pull on the rubber boot. Remove the CV drive shaft from the vehicle.

Installation

1. Insert the CV drive shaft stub into the hub bearing.

2. Attach the inner joint flange to the axle shaft flange. Tighten the bolts with 90 Nm (65 ft. lbs.) torque.






3. Clean all foreign material from the stub shaft threads. Install the hub nut and washer.

4. Apply the brakes and tighten the wheel hub nut with 258 Nm (190 ft. lbs.) torque.






5. Install the spring washer, nut lock and a replacement cotter pin on the stub shaft. Wrap the replacement cotter pin prongs tightly around the nut lock.

6. Install the wheel and tire. Remove supports and lower the vehicle.
