ITEM A: RADIATOR FAN NOISE

MODELS: 1992 (AB) RAM VAN/WAGON

(AN) DAKOTA

EQUIPPED WITH 3.9L OR 5.2L MPI ENGINE

GROUP: 07 - COOLING

ACTION: Vehicles equipped with 3.9L or 5.2L MPI engines may exhibit increased fan noise over previous model year vehicles. This fan noise is most noticeable during the first few minutes of operation after a cold start up and is the result of the heavy duty viscous fan drive. Fan noise can also occur when the fan locks at high temperature or under heavy load conditions. No attempt to repair this condition should be made. However, fan noise can be exaggerated by an improperly adjusted throttle valve cable and could be perceived as a slipping transmission. The proper specifications for adjusting throttle valve cable can be found in the 1992 D&W 150-350/Ramcharger Service Manual, Publication Number 81-370-2108. The specifications printed in this manual should be used for all models listed in this Hot Line.
