Vehicle Damage Warnings
Fuel System Precautions
1. Do not operate the fuel pump without fuel, as pump is lubricated by fuel.
2. Do not depress the accelerator pedal on fuel injected models while trying to start the car, as this will cause a flooded condition.
3. Do not use gear lubricant or brake fluid to lubricate fuel system connections and o-rings, as these may damage fuel system components.
4. Handle all fuel injection related parts with care as they may easily be damaged.
5. Use new gaskets or O-rings when installing fuel lines or injectors.
6. Lightly lubricate O-rings and flare connections with clean 30 weight engine oil.
7. Check for leaks after servicing fuel system, and correct as needed.
8. Use hoses marked EFM/ EFI only, when replacing fuel injection system hoses.
9. When installing hoses, ensure that they are routed away from heat sources, and contact with clamps or other components that cause abrasions or scuffing and cause premature failure.
10. Use only original equipment or equivalent hose clamps which have rolled edge to prevent the clamp from cutting into the hose. Other types of clamps may cut into the hoses and cause high pressure fuel leaks.
