Intake Air Heater: Service and Repair
REMOVALAir Intake Heaters:
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the throttle rod from the throttle lever on the injection pump.
3. Disconnect the electrical connections from the air intake heater.
Throttle Bracket Location:
4. Remove throttle bracket.
5. Loosen the clamps securing the air crossover tube hose to the turbocharger.
6. Remove air crossover tube mounting screws and air crossover tube.
7. Remove air intake heater.
8. Clean air intake heater to manifold mating surfaces and discard gaskets.
INSTALLATION
1. Install air intake heater with new gaskets.
2. Install air crossover tube and torque the mounting bolts to 18 lb-ft (24 Nm).
3. Install the air crossover tube to turbocharger hose clamps and torque to 44 lb-in (5 Nm).
4. Install the throttle bracket and torque the mounting bolts to 18 lb-ft (24 Nm).
5. Connect the electrical connectors to the air intake heater.
6. Connect the throttle rod to the throttle lever on the injection pump.
7. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
