Engine Surges at Idle

SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION:

Engine hunting (uneven idle) under idle conditions. Engine speed increases and decreases, with no change in the accelerator pedal.




POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION

Empty fuel tank or fuel - Fill fuel tank, bleed system, and
tank vent blocked check fuel tank vent.



Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.





Low idle speed - Adjust idle speed.





Fuel injection pump malfunction - Replace fuel injection pump.
or not adjustable.
