State Display Inputs and Outputs
DESCRIPTION
The switch inputs that are used by the PCM have only two states, HI and LOW. Because of the logical process of the PCM, it cannot determine the difference between a selected switch position and an open or shorted circuit, or a defective switch. If the change from OFF to ON or ON to OFF is displayed (scan tool) then it can be assumed that the entire switch circuit to PCM is functional. Connect the scan tool to the vehicle and access "State Displays" then, access "Inputs and Outputs".
