Sliding Door: Adjustments
DOOR FORE/AFT ADJUSTMENTTrack & Hinge Covers:
1. Remove the track and hinge covers.
Door Fore/Aft Adjustment:
2. Loosen the rear, upper roller hinge bracket retaining screws and then move the door to the correct fore/aft position.
3. Tighten the upper roller hinge bracket retaining screws with 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque. Open and close the door, and then inspect to determine if the door is positioned correctly fore and aft.
Front Striker Shim Installation:
Stabilizer Pin Measurement:
4. If necessary, remove the front striker and install a shim to ensure that the stabilizer pin enters the striker bore an acceptable distance of 12 - 15 mm (1/2 - 3/5 in).
5. After the striker shim is installed, install the striker, tighten the retaining screws "finger-tight" and close the door. Open the door carefully and then tighten the screws with 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) torque.
Rear Striker Centered In Latch:
6. Determine the position of the rear, center striker. The striker bar should be positioned near the center of the latch pawl.
7. If necessary, correctly adjust the position of the rear, center striker.
DOOR UP/DOWN ADJUSTMENTS
Front Edge
Front Upper Roller Bracket & Screws:
1. Loosen all of the front, upper roller bracket retaining screws.
2. Remove the door trim panel.
Striker Removal/Installation:
3. Loosen all of the door lower roller support bracket retaining screws.
4. Move the door to the correct up/down position and tighten the support bracket retaining screws with 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs) torque.
Upper Roller To Track Clearance Measurement:
5. Ensure that there is 1.5 mm (0.06 in) clearance distance between the top of the upper roller and the top of the track.
6. Inspect the latch/striker alignment and correctly adjust the front striker position, if necessary.
7. Install the door trim panel.
Rear Edge
Rear Latch (Center) Striker Up/Down Adjustment:
1. Loosen the rear latch (center) striker retaining screws and move the striker up or down the distance the door must be raised or lowered. Tighten the screws with 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.) torque.
2. Close the door to the point that the rear latch pawl is partially engaged with the striker bar (not the completely engaged with the striker bar).
Upper Roller Hinge & Bracket:
3. Loosen the rear, upper roller hinge bracket screws and close the door firmly so that the latch pawl is completely engaged with the striker bar.
Hinge Bracket Adjustment:
4. Push the front edge of the roller hinge bracket upward to the maximum up-position and lightly tighten the bracket front retaining screw.
Hinge Swing Arm Adjustment:
5. Pull down firmly on the hinge swing-arm and then completely tighten all the hinge bracket retaining screws with 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque.
6. Ensure that the clearance distance between the latch pawl and the striker bar is 0.8 mm (0.03 in).
DOOR IN/OUT ADJUSTMENT
Front Roller In/Out Adjustment:
1. The door front, upper corner in/out adjustment is accomplished by loosening the front, upper roller stud nut and the moving the upper part of the door to the correct in/out position.
Upper Roller To Track Clearance Measurement:
2. Ensure that there is 1.5-mm (0.06-in) clearance distance between the top of the upper roller and the top of the track.
Front Roller In/Out Adjustment:
Tighten the nut with 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) torque.
Roller Bracket Screw:
3. The door front, lower corner in/out adjustment is accomplished by loosening the lower roller bracket retaining screws and then moving the lower part of the door to the correct in/out position. Tighten the screws with 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque.
rear Center Striker Adjustment:
4. The door rear in/out adjustment is accomplished by loosening the rear, center striker retaining screws and then moving the striker to the correct in/out position. Tighten the screws with 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) torque.
DOOR OPEN-POSITION CATCH/STRIKER ADJUSTMENT
Door Catch Engaged With Striker Notch:
The door open-position catch prevents the door from sliding forward when the door is completely open. The catch must be firmly engaged with the striker notch to ensure safe door operation.
Door Catch/Striker Adjustment:
1. To adjust for correct door catch/striker engagement, loosen the striker retaining screws and move the striker up or down to obtain the correct catch engagement position.
2. Tighten the retaining screws with 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) torque.
Door Catch Release Rod Nut Retainer:
3. Remove any excess movement from the door catch release rod by adjusting the release rod nut retainer (located under the latch) until the release lever loosely contacts the catch.
DOOR CLOSED-POSITION LOCKING CATCH/STRIKER ADJUSTMENT
Swing Arm Locking Lever & Catch Disengaged:
Swing Arm Locking Lever & Catch Engaged:
The upper, rear roller hinge swing-arm locking lever operates the door closed-position locking catch.
Striker Shim Installation/Removal:
For correct door opening, closing and locking, the closed-position locking catch must correctly disengage/engage the striker. If the locking catch does not correctly disengage/engage the striker, install or remove a shim(s) to correctly re-position the striker.
