SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

An odor may be noticed inside some vehicles that is described to be similar to the odor of fish. This condition is most noticeable during damp and warm weather conditions.

This odor is coming from the headliner and is due to a vendor manufacturing process. More specifically, the curing of the fiberglass is not to process standards.

No health risks are associated with the odor.

DIAGNOSIS:

Verify the odor is present by smelling the interior of the vehicle. If an odor similar to fish is experienced, perform the repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves installing a revised headliner made with a different material.

1. Using the procedure outlined on page 23-41 of the 1993 Front Wheel Drive/All Wheel Drive Van/Wagon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-3105), replace the headliner.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
