NOTE:
THIS REPAIR APPLIES TO ST. LOUIS If BUILT VEHICLES WITH BUILD DATES PRIOR TO 4/6/93 (MDH 0406XX). THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE PERFORMED ON ALL VEHICLES IN DEALER INVENTORY BEFORE THEY ARE DELIVERED TO THE CUSTOMER. CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT ARE IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY OTHER REASON SHOULD ALSO HAVE THIS REPAIR PERFORMED.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Screw clamps for connection of the transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator and auxiliary transmission oil cooler may not provide the specified clamping load/screw torque relationship.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the vehicle MDH. If the MDH is prior to 0406XX, inspect the clamp screw housings and look for the name TRIDON to be stamped into it. If any other name is found, perform the repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing revised hose clamps.
1. Loosen the existing hose clamps and remove the transmission oil cooler hoses from their connections one at a time. Remove the existing clamps and install the revised clamps. Make the disconnection and re-connection of the hoses to the nipples as quick as possible to keep the transmission fluid loss to a minimum.
2. Ensure the transmission cooler hoses are fully installed on the nipples of the radiator and auxiliary transmission oil cooler if so equipped.
3. Place each clamp so it is positioned equally between the nipple bead and the threads of the nipples at the radiator connections.
4. Torque each clamp to 18 in.lbs.
5. Start the vehicle and inspect the connections for leaks.
6. Check and adjust the transmission fluid level using the procedure outlined on page 21-91 of the 1993 Front Wheel Drive/All Wheel Drive Van/Wagon Service Manual.
