SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some vehicles may exhibit a bowing or warpage along the top edge of the carpet insert of the front door trim panel.

DIAGNOSIS:

Visually inspect carpet insert for bowing or warpage directly below the door pull handle. If the condition is present perform the repair procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

AR Front Door Trim Panel

If a front door trim panel replacement ultimately is required, consult your MOPAR Parts Catalog for the appropriate replacement panel part number.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves modifying the gauge pin on the back of the front door trim panel(s).

1. Using the procedure outlined on page 23-24 of the 1993 Front Wheel Drive/All Wheel Drive Van/Wagon Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-3105), remove the front door trim panel.

2. Measure the length of the gauge pin on the back of the door panel (refer to the illustration). Shorten the pin as necessary to assure that it does not exceed 1/2" in length.

3. Reverse the procedure in step 1 to install the revised door trim panel.

4. The warpage of the carpet insert may not be immediately corrected. Normally, the carpet insert will take three to four weeks to return to non-warped condition. If after three to four weeks the panel has not returned to the non-warped condition, replace the door trim panel. Be sure the gauge pin on the back of the replacement panel is modified as described in step 2.

5. Dealers should perform this repair on all in stock vehicles with a build date prior to 05/08/93 (MDH 0508XX) immediately to prevent warpage from occurring.

6. Dealers should also perform this modification to any service parts in stock.
