THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
DISCUSSION:
A squeak noise may occur when shifting into or out of a gear. The noise is coming from where the select shift cable attaches to the gear shift lever.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LUBRICATE THE SHIFTER PIN TO ELIMINATE THE SQUEAK NOISE. PETROLEUM BASE LUBRICANTS WILL REDUCE THE DURABILITY OF THE CABLE ISOLATOR.
If a subject vehicle exhibits this condition, replace the shifter assembly using the procedure outlined in the appropriate service manual. The correct part numbers for the shifter assembly are listed below:
