NOTE: Idle speed adjustment is usually not required. If idle speed is out of specification check and verify the operation of the idle speed control system. Refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS.INITIAL INSPECTION CONDITIONS:
^ Engine coolant temperature is 176 - 203°F.
^ Lights, cooling fan and all accessories are OFF.
^ Transmission is in neutral or park.
^ Steering wheel is in straight-ahead position.

IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT
1. Check the ignition timing and adjust, if necessary. (Refer to procedure)
2. Insert a paper clip into the single pin harness connector between the primary side and the noise filter of the ignition coil. Connect a tachometer to the paper clip.
DTM Control Terminal:
3. Ground terminal 10 of the diagnostic test mode control terminal with a jumper wire.
Ignition Timing Adjustment Connector:
4. Ground the ignition timing adjustment terminal with a jumper wire.
5. Start the engine and allow to idle.
6. Check the engine idle speed.
Curb Idle Speed:
750 ± 50 RPM
Idle Speed Adjustment:
8. If the idle speed is NOT as specified, adjust the speed adjusting screw.
9. Stop the engine, disconnect jumper wires, remove tachometer and reinstall waterproof plug in the connector for ignition timing adjustment.
10. Start the engine and confirm that idling condition is normal.
