Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Description and Operation

Fuel Delivery System:

PURPOSE
Supplies engine with sufficient amount filtered fuel at correct pressure.

OPERATION
Electric pump pushes fuel through in line filter, to throttle body, injector, and pressure regulator.

Vacuum assisted regulator maintains pressure at injector by allowing excess fuel to return to tank via return line.

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls fuel flow through injector by varying injector pulse width.

CONSTRUCTION
Fuel Delivery system consists of fuel tank, submersed, electric, fuel pump, fuel filter, throttle body, fuel injector, fuel pressure regulator and associated lines, hoses and controls.
