Leaf Spring Replacement

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle with suitable hoist lifting from frame side rail at crossmember behind the axle. Raise vehicle enough so rear wheels are just off the ground.
2. Remove nuts, lockwashers and U-bolts securing axle to leaf springs.
3. Remove spring shackle bolts and spring shackle, then the front spring nut, bolt and spring assembly.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. When installing spring, position spring center bolt so it enters hole in axle housing pad.
b. Prior to fully tightening attaching nuts, lower vehicle to ground, then tighten U-bolt nuts to specifications. Fully tighten all other attaching nuts.
