Scanner Does Not Operate When Connected to Power

NOTE: The scanner is grounded through the ground terminal in the diagnostic connector. An open circuit in this line will prevent the scanner from operating. Test the diagnostic connector ground terminal as explained in the section, 'Testing The Diagnostic Connector." Also check the following points:

PROCEDURE:
1. Use an ohmmeter to test the continuity of the scanner power cable.

2. Use an ohmmeter to test the continuity of the scanner data cable. Measure continuity pin to pin from the D-shaped connectors at each end of the cable.

3. Verify that the scanner operates properly on the internal battery when the Quick ID button is held down.
