Roof Seam Water Leaks

MODELS:

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

In cases where persistent water leaks are present and seem to be coming from the area of the upper windshield corners, the leak may be coming from the roof seam at the rear of the cab. If gaps are present, water can enter through seam or fastener holes and travel forward along the flange to the windshield area when the brakes are applied.

DIAGNOSIS:

Water test the windshield area. If no windshield leaks are found, perform the repair procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

AR Clear Windshield Sealer

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





This bulletin involves removing the roof corner mouldings and sealing the seams and fastener holes.

1. Using the procedure outlined in the Dakota Service Manual, remove the necessary trim and headliner to gain access to the moulding studs.

NOTE:
CAUTION SHOULD BE USED WHEN REMOVING THE MOULDING TO PREVENT IT FROM BENDING. REMOVE THE NUTS AND GENTLY TAP ON THE STUDS FROM INSIDE THE CAB TO REMOVE THE MOULDING.

2. Remove both mouldings and seal the seams and fastener holes with sealer.

3. Install the moldings.

4. Install the headliner and trim.
