SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A clicking or squeaking noise coming from the left front wheel well may be caused by the left inner front fender splash shield reinforcement panel rubbing against the dash panel assembly (Figure 1).
DIAGNOSIS:
Jounce the left front of the vehicle. If a clicking or squeaking noise can be heard while in jounce or rebound motion, proceed to the repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves repositioning the rear of the left front splash shield and dash assembly.
1. Position vehicle on suitable hoist and raise.
2. Turn wheel to allow access to the rear of the left front splash shield.
3. Look for signs of contact as shown in Figures 2 and 3.
4. Insert a small pry bar between the rear of the left front splash shield and dash assembly (Figure 2).
5. Adjust splash shield reinforcement 4 to 6 mm (1/8 to 1/4 inch) away from dash assembly.
6. Using Mopar Rustproofing, P/N J8993799, touch up areas where contact had been made and/or pry bar was used to adjust clearance. Allow rustproofing to dry and reapply as specified on instructions provided on package.
