Transfer Case Damper Weight Contacts Crossmember

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO 4 X 4 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The transfer case damper weight contacts the rear crossmember causing a rattling noise.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the damper weight for any signs of contact to the rear crossmember. If contact is evident, perform the repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
1 Transmission Mount 52059060
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing a revised transmission mount.
1. Raise the vehicle and support the rear of the transmission with a jack stand.
2. Remove the attaching nuts and bolts from the center crossmember to the transmission mount bracket.
3. Remove the bolts attaching the mount to the transmission bracket.
4. Raise the rear of the transmission enough to clear the mount. Remove the mount.
5. Transfer the crossmember bracket to the new mount P/N 52059060. Tighten the nuts to 27 N-m (20 ft.lb.). Install the new mount.
6. Tighten the mount to transmission bracket bolts to 68 N-m (50 ft.lb).
7. Tighten the Crossmember to mount bracket nuts to 20 N-m (15 ft.lb.).
8. Lower the vehicle.
