REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves the adjustment of the throttle valve cable and replacement of the return spring (AB, AD and AN body only).
1. Remove the throttle cable from the stud on the throttle body.
2. Position the cable end near the stud and inspect the alignment. Remove all slack from the throttle cable and make sure that the throttle lever is at the idle position. The cable should line up the stud within +/- 1 mm (.040 in.). If the cable does not line up, the cable will require adjustment.
3. Adjust the cable by depressing the button on the adjuster head just enough to allow the cable housing to move. Slide the cable housing as required to achieve the alignment within +/- 1 mm (.040 in.).
4. With the engine off, depress the accelerator pedal to the wide open throttle position and slowly release the accelerator pedal. Verify that the throttle lever in the transmission has returned to the idle position. If the lever does not return to the idle position, install the new return spring P/N 53009055. Clean and lubricate the ball stud if necessary.
