Speed Control

PURPOSE

This input informs Powertrain Control Module (PCM) of speed control status


OPERATION

The speed control system provides four different input signals to the PCM; ON, OFF, SET, and RESUME.

The input, ON/OFF, indicates to the PCM that the speed control system has been activated or de-activated by the driver.

The input, SET, indicates to the PCM that a specific vehicle speed has been selected by the driver.

The input, RESUME, indicates to the PCM that the previously SET speed has been requested by the driver.

The speed control operating range is from 50 km/h to 142 km/h (35-85 mph).

Inputs that effect speed control operation are the park/neutral switch, throttle position sensor, and vehicle speed sensor.
