THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT FROM MAR. 27, 1995 (MDH
03-27-XX) TO APR. 11, 1995 (MDH 04-11-XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Excessive movement and rattling type noise from tailgate on right hand side when opening or closing. Loose fit of pivot on right hand side, or right hand bushing broken or missing.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves the replacement of the right hand side tailgate pivot assembly with a revised hinge collar position and bushing (Figure 1).
1. Paint pivot by referencing the paint code located on the body code plate. The body code plate can be found on the floor pan rearward of the passenger side seat. Allow paint to dry.
2. Release tailgate latch and open tailgate.
3. Pull up on clip holding tailgate cable strap and remove from box side.
4. Slip right hand tailgate hinge collar from hinge pin.
5. Separate tailgate from vehicle.
6. Remove right hand pivot from tailgate by removing 2 retaining bolts. Retain bolts for reinstallation (Figure 2).
7. Position new pivot assembly in same location/position as old pivot assembly.
8. Attach pivot using old bolts and torque to 200 in. lbs. (22 Nm).
9. Install new bushing onto body side pivot pin. Push bushing until arms are fully seated on pin (See Figure 2).
10. Install tailgate by placing left hand hinge into left hand pivot. Then insert right hand hinge collar over right hand pivot bushing/pin.
11. Install tailgate cable strap by pushing onto bolt on box side.
