MODELS: 1994 - 1996 (BR) Ram Truck
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A creaking or ticking noise can be heard on the right side of the instrument panel. The noise can be reproduced by pushing on the instrument panel at the shelf above the glove box door. The noise is created when the top right rivet contacts the recirculation door bracket.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves removing the top right rivet in the glove box door opening. Rivet is marked in Figure 1.
1. Open the glove box door. Depress the right side of the glove box bin far enough to allow the door stop to clear the glove box opening.
2. From inside the glove box, push the stem of the button holding the retaining strap at the left end of the door. The button will push out allowing the strap to be removed.
3. The glove box door and bin are removed by lifting the door off of the hinges.
4. Locate the rivet shown in Figure 1.
5. Drill the rivet with a 3/16" drill bit.
CAUTION:
Drill only the head off of the rivet. The backside of the rivet will then fall off. Do not drill past the head of the rivet or damage will occur.
