NAME OF CODETorque Converter Clutch Solenoid CKT
WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition key ON.
SET CONDITION
An open or shorted condition is detected in the torque converter clutch solenoid/relay control circuit.
THEORY OF OPERATION
Three-speed trucks use a relay to control the torque converter clutch solenoid. The solenoid controls the operation of the converter clutch. A small current continuously senses the state of this circuit when the ignition key is turned ON.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Solenoid/relay coil open or shorted
- Fused ignition switch output circuit open
- Solenoid/relay control circuit open or shorted to ground
