Removal and Installation
1. Mark location of hood hinges, then remove hood.2. Drain cooling system, then disconnect coolant hoses from radiator and engine.
3. Remove radiator and fan assembly, then air cleaner and hoses.
4. On models equipped with A/C, unfasten A/C compressor and position aside, leaving refrigerant hoses attached.
5. On all models, remove power steering pump bolts and set pump aside.
6. Remove alternator mounting bolts and set alternator aside. Drain oil pan and remove oil filter.
7. Disconnect electrical connectors from alternator, throttle body and engine.
8. Disconnect fuel line, heater hose and accelerator cable.
9. On models equipped with manual transaxle, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect clutch cable.
b. Remove transaxle case lower cover.
c. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
d. Disconnect starter and position aside.
10. On models equipped with automatic transaxle, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
b. Unfasten starter motor and position aside.
c. Remove transaxle case lower cover, then mark flex plate to torque converter for assembly reference.
d. Remove torque converter to flex plate attaching bolts.
e. Position a C-clamp on front bottom of torque converter housing to prevent torque converter from falling out.
11. On all models, install a suitable transaxle holding fixture and attach a suitable lifting device.
12. Remove right side inner splash shield, then disconnect ground strap.

13. Remove long bolt through yoke bracket and insulator. If yoke screws are to be removed, mark position on side rail for assembly reference.
14. Remove transaxle case to cylinder block attaching bolts.
15. Remove front engine mount screw and nut.
16. Remove insulator through bolt from inside wheel housing or insulator bracket to transaxle attaching bolts.
17. Reverse procedure to install.
