Wrong Body Computer

Name of Code: Wrong Body Computer

When Monitored: Continuously with the ignition key on.

Set condition: The wrong type of instrument cluster (electronic or mechanical) is installed for the type of body control module, or the wrong body control module is installed for the type of instrument cluster.

Theory of operation: A body control module that is designed to work with an electronic instrument cluster monitors the cluster ID pins to determine if both are high. If either ID input is low, the code is set.

A body control module that is designed to work with a mechanical instrument cluster monitors the CCD bus. If an electronic instrument cluster message is received, the code is set.

Possible Causes:
- Installed body control module not compatible with installed cluster

NOTE: If a body control module for an electronic instrument cluster is installed in a vehicle with a mechanical instrument cluster, an additional possible cause for the code is that the body control module pin is shorted to ground.
