Engine: Service and Repair
1. Scribe hood hinge outlines on hood, then remove hood.2. Remove battery, then drain cooling system and remove air cleaner.
3. Disconnect heater and radiator hoses, then remove radiator. Set fan shroud aside.
4. Remove vacuum lines, distributor cap and all electrical connectors.
5. Disconnect throttle linkage, then remove throttle body.

6. Release fuel system pressure as follows:
a. Remove the negative battery cable, and remove the fuel tank fill cap.
b. Place sufficient shop towels under the pressure test port (schrader valve) on the fuel rail.
c. Remove the cap from the pressure test port on the fuel rail.
d. Using an appropriate fuel pressure gauge hose, place one end of hose in an approved container and screw the other end of the hose onto the test port to relieve fuel pressure. Absorb any spilled fuel with shop towels.
e. Install cap on test port.
7. Disconnect fuel lines, starter and oil pressure wires.
8. On models with air conditioning, carefully recover refrigerant.
9. Disconnect power steering hoses, then disconnect A/C hoses.
10. Remove starter motor and alternator, then raise and support vehicle.
11. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
12. On models with automatic transmission, remove transmission.
13. On models with manual transmission, remove transmission.
14. Install suitable engine lifting equipment onto engine lifting eyes.
15. Remove engine mounts.
16. Lower vehicle and remove engine.
17. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specifications.
