IMPORTANTDEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
Emissions Recall # 710 -- Reprogram PCM
^ This service requirement applies only to 1997 model year Dodge Ram (BR) trucks equipped with a 3.9L engine ("X" in the 8th VIN position), manual transmission and Federal emission control system built through August 13, 1996 (MDH 081318) at the Dodge City Assembly Plant (5 in the 11th VIN position).
^ The powertrain control module on the above listed vehicles, was programmed with an uncertified emission calibration which is in violation of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. To correct this condition, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must be reprogrammed (flashed).
^ The PCM software which is loaded during the recall service procedure also includes any other PCM updates which may have been released (i.e. TSB's) between the date of manufacture and the issuance of the TIL CD update which was used.

^ No parts will be distributed initially. Dealers should order the required labels as necessary to support customer demand.
