Fuel Level Sending Unit No Change Over Miles

NAME OF CODE
Fuel level sending no change over miles

WHEN MONITORED
Ignition on.

SET CONDITION
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sees low fuel for more than 120 miles. On ZJ body with California emissions, this code can be set if the fuel level is greater than 85% and does not change for at least 100 miles.

THEORY OF OPERATION:
The voltage at the fuel level sending unit sends a variable voltage to the powertrain control module to indicate fuel level. The purpose of this feature is to prevent false setting of misfire and fuel system monitor codes when the vehicle is operating at low fuel levels.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Sensor signal circuit open
- Fuel level sending unit failure
- Powertrain control module failure
- Connector wires
- Connector terminals
