Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid/Trans Relay CKT

NAME OF CODE
Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid Circuit

WHEN MONITORED
Continuously with the key on.

SET CONDITION
This code is set if the voltage detected on the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid Control Circuit at the PCM is different than the expected voltage.

THEORY OF OPERATION
This solenoid is used to control the operation of the TCC. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) energizes the solenoid by grounding the TCC Solenoid Control Circuit. The TCC Solenoid receives it's 12-volt supply from the transmission relay. The TCC will only engage in 3rd and 4th gears (overdrive). The TCC will not engage when the transmission oil temp is below 32° F.

TRANSMISSION EFFECTS
The PCM turns off the transmission relay resulting in the transmission going into default mode (3rd gear).

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Transmission relay failure
- Transmission relay wiring open or shorted
- Open or shorted TOO Solenoid
- Open or shorted TOO Solenoid Control Circuit wiring
- Corroded, damaged, pushed out, miswired, or disconnected connector(s)
- Internal controller failure (PCM)
