DTC 74 System Control Mode Timeout

NAME OF CODE:
System Control Mode Time Out

SET CONDITION:
The following criteria must be met for this code to be detected.
1. Vehicle speed above 6 km/h (4 mph) for 2 seconds.
2. Vehicle in anti lock control mode.
3. Criteria 1-2 satisfied for 120 consecutive controller checks spaced 1 second apart.

THEORY OF OPERATION:
Anything that keeps the ABS in pressure control mode for an excessive period of time.

POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Driver using an excessive driving style

EXAMPLE: Driver using the accelerator in conjunction with the brake pedal to maintain speed and ABS activity. Driver keeping the ABS active with a light pedal apply on a long downhill grade.
