Repairing Wiper Park Switch Failure

Name Of Code: Wiper Park Switch Failure

When Monitored: Any time the wipers are on.

Set Condition: After the CTM sees the park switch sense circuit transition to B+, (high) it starts counting. If the line never goes high (open circuit) the CTM will not start counting and the fault will not set. If the line State remains high for longer than 8 seconds, the DTC will be set.

Theory Of Operation: The CTM monitors the wiper park switch sense circuit during wiper operation. The switch state should change from high to low as wipers approach perk position and the park Switch transitions from B+ to ground. If the CTM does not see" the transition to ground for 8 seconds it assumes that the park switch or circuit has failed. Anything that prevents the CTM from "seeing" the transition from high to low can set this DTC. If the park switch sense line is open, the DTO will not set because the line is already low.

Possible causes:
> Defective park switch (wiper motor assembly)
> Defective or missing I/wipe relay
> Defective CTM
