Horn Tower

WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, REFER TO AIRBAGS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Remove the driver side airbag module from the steering wheel. Refer to Airbag Module in the Replacement of Airbags Systems for the procedures. Unplug the horn switch wire harness connector from the air-bag module.
2. Remove the lower shroud from the steering column. Refer to Turn Signal Switch and Hazard Warning Switch in the Removal and Installation section of Lighting and Horns/Turn Signal and Hazard Warning Systems for the procedures.
3. Check for continuity between the steering column half of the horn switch feed wire harness connector and the electrically conductive disc on the lower surface of the turn signal cancel cam. There should be continuity If OK, see Horn Contact in the Diagnosis and Testing. If not OK, repair the steering column half of the horn switch feed wire harness or replace the faulty turn signal cancel cam as required.
